the first thing you need to do to consistently and joyfully journal

Hi friend,

I know planning on Sunday feels like boring and basic advice, but that's how I carve out time to journal and you can do it too, I promise.

I’m a total habit-human. Routine and I? We’re like velcro. That’s why I’ve learned to be intentional about the habits I build—choosing ones that are productive and feel good rather than spiraling into procrastination or overwhelm.

One of my favorite habits? Taking 10 minutes on a Sunday to map out my week.
Why?

  • It minimizes decision fatigue (no more daily “What’s next?” moments).

  • It keeps me accountable to the things that matter.

  • It helps me manage my time better.

But most importantly, it sets up my aspirational week. Chronic illness doesn’t always respect plans, but this practice allows me to separate my tasks into essential and negotiable categories. It helps me avoid overscheduling, and instead, I approach the week with calm and flexibility. No panic. Just progress.

I know planning can feel daunting. Maybe you’re thinking:

  • “I don’t have time to plan.”

  • “I’m too busy to add one more thing.”

  • “What if I don’t stick to it and ‘fail’?”

Here’s the thing: planning isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating space for what matters to you. With the right tools (and day of the week that suits you to plan - pick a day, any day) that fit your personality, a simple approach, and a mindset that celebrates flexibility over rigidity, planning can feel liberating, not limiting.

Now, here’s the twist: this blog post? It’s not just about planning. It’s about you figuring out how you're going to approach your 5 minutes of creativity a day, so that at the end of the year, you reflect on a habit you formed that you feel really added value to your life.

So, hit that reply button and share something with me—anything!

  • Got a worry about how you're going to fit in your daily practice? Share it.

  • Want to say hi? Say hi.

  • Feeling inspired, stuck, or somewhere in between? I’m here to listen and cheer you on!

I’m sitting here, creating your journals, SO excited to hear from you.

Today, it's about you. Cheers to your week ahead,

Lou
